In this private residence, the Studio conducted one of its first experiments with the courtyard structure. The innovation was used to create a house on top of a house. In this private, double-height residence, a thread of surprise runs through the plan: for example, the courtyard is the point of entrance, and the house is built to enjoy rather than evade the Indian monsoon. In the living area, the Studio also shows its trademark of revealing local materials in unexpected ways, especially through the explicit display of the reinforced, brick concrete ceiling.
